Cancellation and Refund Policy

Last Updated: 5 March 2026

This Cancellation and Refund Policy governs cancellations, refunds, and payment-related matters associated with services and products provided by Inkbound Publishers (“Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) through https://inkbound.org (the “Website”).

Inkbound Publishers was previously known as The Law Brigade (Book) Publisher, and the current publishing platform continues the academic publishing activities formerly carried out under that name. References to “Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy refer to the publisher operating the Website and its associated publishing services.

This policy applies to:

  • Book Processing Charges (BPCs) for scholarly publications

  • conference proceedings processing fees

  • print-on-demand book orders

  • any other paid services offered through the Website

By making a payment to Inkbound for any service or product, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to this Cancellation and Refund Policy in addition to our Terms of Service.

1. General Policy

Inkbound operates under a professional academic publishing model involving editorial evaluation, peer review management, manuscript preparation, typesetting, and digital hosting.

Many of these processes involve non-recoverable administrative and production costs once the publication workflow has commenced.

Accordingly, payments made for publication services or production activities may become non-refundable once the relevant process has begun.

Refund eligibility, where applicable, will be determined solely at the discretion of Inkbound and in accordance with the provisions outlined in this policy.

2. Book Processing Charges (BPCs)

Inkbound may charge Book Processing Charges (BPCs) for monographs, edited volumes, or other academic book publications.

These charges support services including:

  • editorial screening and peer review management

  • manuscript preparation and typesetting

  • publication production and digital hosting

  • metadata registration and dissemination

  • long-term archiving and accessibility

Cancellation Before Editorial Processing

If an author or editor withdraws a submission before the editorial evaluation process begins, Inkbound may, at its sole discretion, consider a cancellation request.

Administrative processing charges may still apply.

Cancellation After Editorial or Production Process Begins

Once any of the following processes has commenced, BPC payments become non-refundable:

  • editorial screening or peer review initiation

  • manuscript editing or formatting

  • typesetting or layout preparation

  • DOI assignment or metadata registration

  • publication production or online release

This policy reflects the operational costs incurred during the publication workflow.

3. Conference Proceedings Fees

For conference proceedings, Inkbound charges per-paper processing fees, typically subject to a minimum billing threshold of 20 chapters, which may be revised from time to time.

Proceedings processing involves editorial coordination, manuscript preparation, publication production, and dissemination.

Once proceedings processing has begun, including submission intake, editorial coordination, or manuscript preparation, payments made toward proceedings publication are non-refundable.

Conference organizers are responsible for ensuring the accuracy of submitted manuscripts and for coordinating submissions prior to initiating the proceedings publication process.

4. Print-on-Demand Book Orders

Inkbound offers printed versions of selected publications through a print-on-demand production model.

Printed books are printed and bound only after an order has been confirmed, and therefore production begins specifically for each order.

Because print-on-demand orders involve immediate production costs, orders cannot be cancelled once printing or production workflow has commenced.

Cancellation Before Printing Begins

If a cancellation request is received before printing and production begin, Inkbound may attempt to cancel the order.

However, cancellation cannot be guaranteed once the production workflow has been initiated.

Returns and Refunds

Due to the print-on-demand nature of production, printed books are generally non-returnable and non-refundable.

Returns are not accepted for reasons including:

  • change of mind

  • incorrect quantity ordered

  • shipping delays

  • customs processing delays

Exceptions may be considered only in cases where the printed book contains significant printing defects or production errors, subject to verification by Inkbound.

5. Shipping Costs and Customs Charges

Shipping charges, customs duties, import taxes, and regulatory fees associated with print orders are the sole responsibility of the purchaser.

These charges are imposed by shipping providers or customs authorities and are outside the control of Inkbound.

Accordingly, such charges are not refundable under any circumstances, including cases involving delivery delays or customs processing issues.

6. Payment Processing

Payments for services and products may be processed through secure third-party payment gateways.

Inkbound does not store sensitive payment information such as credit card details.

Refunds, where approved, will be processed through the original payment method where technically feasible.

Processing timelines for refunds may depend on banking systems or payment gateway providers and may take several business days to complete.

7. Chargebacks and Payment Disputes

Initiating a chargeback or payment dispute through a financial institution or payment processor without first contacting Inkbound to resolve the issue may constitute a breach of these terms.

Inkbound reserves the right to provide documentation and evidence related to the transaction to the relevant financial institutions.

Where a chargeback is initiated in bad faith, Inkbound may suspend services, reject future submissions, or pursue recovery of associated costs. Alternatively, Inkbound may penalize the user by any other means necessary and in control of Inkbound.

8. Disclaimer of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Inkbound shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from cancellation or refund disputes.

Inkbound’s total liability in relation to any transaction shall not exceed the amount paid by the user for the specific service or product giving rise to the claim.

9. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

This Cancellation and Refund Policy shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of India.

Any disputes arising out of or relating to this policy shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, India.

Prior to initiating formal proceedings, the parties agree to attempt to resolve disputes through good-faith negotiation.

If the dispute cannot be resolved amicably, it shall be submitted to binding arbitration under the rules of the Gujarat High Court Arbitration Center (GHAC) in Ahmedabad.

10. Policy Updates

Inkbound reserves the right to update or revise this Cancellation and Refund Policy at any time.

Updated versions will be published on the Website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of the Website or services following such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
