Publication Fees Policy
Last Updated: 5 March 2026
This Publication Fees Policy describes the publication-related charges applicable to scholarly works published by Inkbound Publishers (“Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), accessible at https://inkbound.org (the “Website”).
Inkbound Publishers was previously known as The Law Brigade (Book) Publisher, and the current publishing platform continues the academic publishing activities formerly carried out under that name. References to “Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy refer to the publisher operating the Website and its associated publishing services.
Inkbound operates as an open access academic publisher, making published books and chapters freely accessible online without subscription barriers. In order to support editorial management, peer review, production, hosting, and long-term accessibility, the publisher may charge certain publication fees.
This policy explains the types of fees that may apply to monographs, edited volumes, and conference proceedings.
1. Open Access Publishing Model
All publications issued by Inkbound are distributed under an open access model, meaning that readers worldwide can access and download the published content without subscription fees.
To support the infrastructure required for open access publishing—including editorial processing, peer review management, typesetting, metadata registration, hosting, and dissemination—publication fees may apply.
Payment of publication fees supports the operational and technical processes involved in scholarly publishing.
2. Book Processing Charges (BPC) for Monographs
Inkbound may charge Book Processing Charges (BPCs) for scholarly monographs.
A monograph refers to a complete academic book written by one or more authors focusing on a specific scholarly subject.
The BPC supports services including:
-
editorial screening and manuscript evaluation
-
plagiarism and integrity checks
-
coordination of peer review
-
manuscript preparation and typesetting
-
publication production and formatting
-
digital hosting and open access distribution
-
metadata registration and indexing submissions
Specific BPC amounts may vary depending on factors including but not limited to manuscript length, production requirements, and project scope.
Always refer to the Submission Guidelines Page to know the current publications charges. The authors should always check the submission guidelines page during the submission stage to know the current charges.
3. Chapter Publishing Charges (CPC) for Edited Volumes
For edited books, where individual chapters are contributed by multiple authors under the coordination of volume editors, Inkbound may apply Chapter Publishing Charges (CPCs).
The CPC is typically charged per accepted chapter and covers the editorial and production services associated with processing individual chapter contributions.
Services supported by the CPC may include:
-
editorial review and manuscript screening
-
plagiarism and integrity checks
-
coordination of double-blind peer review where applicable
-
typesetting and formatting of chapters
-
integration of chapters into the edited volume
-
digital hosting and open access publication
Editors coordinating the volume may work with contributing authors to manage the submission and publication process.
Always refer to the Edited Book's "Call For Book Chapter Notification" in our announcements page to find the said book's Chapter Publication Charge. The authors should always check the submission guidelines page during the submission stage to know the current charges.
4. Conference Proceedings Publication Fees
Conference proceedings submitted for publication with Inkbound are typically subject to per-paper publication charges.
These charges support the editorial and production processes required to convert conference papers into formally published proceedings.
Publication services may include:
-
editorial review and integrity checks
-
plagiarism screening
-
additional peer review where required
-
typesetting and formatting of papers
-
compilation of the proceedings volume
-
digital hosting and open access distribution
Conference organizers typically coordinate the submission of papers and communication with contributing authors.
Confenrence Proceedings Fees is generally mentioned in the Submission Guidelines Page, however, the pricing agreed upon with the conference organizer (via agreement or MOU etc.) will take precedence over the pricing mentioned in the Submission Guidelines Page.
5. Minimum Billing Threshold for Proceedings
For conference proceedings, a minimum billing threshold of 20 chapters or papers may apply.
This means that publication arrangements for conference proceedings are generally based on a minimum volume size of twenty accepted contributions.
The minimum threshold helps ensure that the proceedings publication can be produced efficiently within the publisher’s editorial and production framework.
The minimum chapter requirement may be revised periodically depending on publishing logistics and operational considerations.
6. Fee Transparency
Inkbound is committed to transparency regarding publication fees.
Authors, editors, or conference organizers will be informed of applicable publication charges prior to the initiation of the publication process.
Fee structures may vary depending on:
-
project scope
-
manuscript length
-
number of chapters or papers
-
editorial and production requirements
7. Fee Payment and Invoicing
Publication fees are typically invoiced once a manuscript, chapter, or proceedings project has passed the initial editorial screening and is accepted for publication processing.
Details regarding payment methods and timelines will be communicated during the publication process.
8. Refunds and Cancellations
Refund eligibility is governed by Inkbound’s Cancellation and Refund Policy.
In general, publication fees become non-refundable once editorial processing, peer review coordination, or production work has commenced, due to the operational costs associated with these activities.
9. Waivers and Discounts
Inkbound may, at its discretion, consider requests for fee waivers or partial discounts in exceptional circumstances.
Such requests may be evaluated on a case-by-case basis depending on factors including institutional support, funding availability, or special publishing initiatives.
10. Policy Updates
Inkbound reserves the right to update or revise this Publication Fees Policy periodically.
Updated versions will be published on the Website with a revised “Last Updated” date.
