Copyright & Permissions Policy

Last Updated: 5 March 2026

This Copyright and Permissions Policy describes how copyright ownership, reuse permissions, and copyright-related requests are handled for works published by Inkbound Publishers (“Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), accessible at https://inkbound.org (the “Website”).

Inkbound Publishers was previously known as The Law Brigade (Book) Publisher, and the current publishing platform continues the academic publishing activities formerly carried out under that name. References to “Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy refer to the publisher operating the Website and its associated publishing services.

This policy should be read together with our Open Access & Licensing Policy, which explains the open access publishing model and the licensing framework applied to Inkbound publications.

1. Copyright Ownership

Authors publishing with Inkbound retain full copyright ownership of their scholarly work.

Inkbound does not require the transfer of copyright from authors. Instead, authors grant the publisher a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the work in accordance with the publishing agreement.

Because the license granted to Inkbound is non-exclusive, authors remain free to reuse and distribute their work in accordance with the applicable license terms.

2. License to Publish

By submitting and publishing their work with Inkbound, authors grant the publisher a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to:

  • publish and disseminate the work in digital and print formats;

  • host and archive the work on the Inkbound website and related platforms;

  • distribute the work through indexing services, repositories, and academic discovery systems;

  • promote the work as part of Inkbound’s scholarly publications.

This license enables Inkbound to ensure the long-term accessibility and dissemination of the work.

3. Creative Commons Licensing

All publications issued by Inkbound are made available under the Creative Commons Attribution–NonCommercial–ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

This license permits non-commercial sharing and adaptation of the work, provided that proper attribution is given and derivative works are distributed under the same license.

A detailed explanation of the open access model and licensing framework is provided in the Open Access & Licensing Policy.

4. Permissions for Reuse

Because Inkbound publications are distributed under a Creative Commons license, most forms of non-commercial reuse do not require additional permission.

Users may share or adapt the material in accordance with the license conditions.

However, additional permission may be required in certain situations, including:

  • commercial reuse of the material;

  • reuse of content outside the scope permitted by the Creative Commons license;

  • reuse of third-party materials not covered by the license.

Requests for permissions beyond the scope of the license should be directed to the copyright holder or the publisher where appropriate.

5. Third-Party Materials

Some publications may include content for which copyright is held by third parties, including:

  • images or figures

  • charts or tables

  • datasets or graphical materials

  • excerpts from previously published works

Authors are responsible for obtaining any necessary permissions for such materials prior to submission.

Where third-party materials are included in a publication, they may be subject to separate copyright conditions and may not be covered by the Creative Commons license applied to the publication.

Users wishing to reuse such materials must obtain permission from the relevant copyright holder.

6. Commercial Use Requests

The CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 license prohibits commercial use of Inkbound publications without permission.

Any individual or organization seeking to use published material for commercial purposes must obtain authorization from the relevant copyright holder.

Commercial uses may include, for example:

  • reproduction of content in commercial publications;

  • use within paid educational or training programs;

  • inclusion of content in commercial databases or services.

Requests for commercial reuse may be submitted to the publisher for guidance.

7. Copyright Infringement and Complaints

Inkbound respects intellectual property rights and expects authors and users to do the same.

If a copyright holder believes that material published by Inkbound infringes their copyright, they may submit a written complaint containing:

  • identification of the allegedly infringing material;

  • evidence of copyright ownership;

  • a description of the claimed infringement;

  • contact information for the complainant.

Upon receiving a credible complaint, Inkbound may investigate the matter and take appropriate action, which may include removal of the content, correction of attribution, or other remedial measures where necessary.

8. Policy Updates

Inkbound reserves the right to update or revise this Copyright & Permissions Policy from time to time.

Updated versions will be published on the Website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of Inkbound publications following such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
