Corrections, Retractions & Post-Publication Updates Policy

Last Updated: 5 March 2026

This Corrections, Retractions and Post-Publication Updates Policy outlines the procedures followed by Inkbound Publishers (“Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our”), accessible at https://inkbound.org (the “Website”), when errors or ethical concerns are identified in published works.

Inkbound Publishers was previously known as The Law Brigade (Book) Publisher, and the current publishing platform continues the academic publishing activities formerly carried out under that name. References to “Inkbound”, “we”, “us”, or “our” in this policy refer to the publisher operating the Website and its associated publishing services.

Inkbound is committed to maintaining the integrity, transparency, and reliability of the scholarly record. When issues are identified after publication, the publisher may issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions as appropriate.

These procedures are guided by internationally recognized ethical standards recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics.

1. Purpose of Post-Publication Updates

Post-publication updates are intended to:

  • maintain the accuracy and reliability of the scholarly record;

  • correct genuine errors that affect the clarity or interpretation of published work;

  • address ethical concerns or research integrity issues;

  • provide transparency regarding any changes made to a publication after release.

Inkbound aims to ensure that any necessary updates are implemented promptly and transparently.

2. Types of Post-Publication Updates

Depending on the nature and severity of the issue identified, Inkbound may apply one of the following actions.

2.1 Corrections (Errata)

A correction may be issued when minor errors are identified in a publication that do not invalidate the overall findings or conclusions.

Examples may include:

  • typographical errors affecting clarity

  • incorrect author affiliations

  • minor formatting or metadata issues

  • factual inaccuracies that do not alter the core scholarly content

Corrections will be clearly documented and linked to the original publication.

2.2 Expressions of Concern

In situations where significant concerns have been raised regarding the reliability or integrity of a publication but a full investigation is still ongoing, Inkbound may issue an expression of concern.

This notice informs readers that questions have been raised regarding the publication while the matter is being investigated.

Expressions of concern may be issued when:

  • credible allegations of research misconduct arise;

  • institutional investigations are underway;

  • further verification of the findings is required.

2.3 Retractions

A retraction may be issued when a publication is found to contain serious problems that invalidate the reliability of the work.

Retractions may occur in cases including, but not limited to:

  • plagiarism or duplicate publication;

  • fabrication or falsification of data;

  • major methodological or analytical errors;

  • copyright infringement or legal disputes;

  • unethical research practices.

Retraction notices will clearly identify the reason for the retraction and will remain permanently associated with the publication.

Whenever possible, the original article or chapter will remain accessible but clearly marked as retracted in order to preserve the transparency of the scholarly record.

3. Withdrawal of Manuscripts Prior to Publication

If ethical concerns or serious issues are identified before publication, Inkbound may withdraw the manuscript from the publication process.

This may occur where:

  • plagiarism or academic misconduct is detected;

  • authors fail to address major ethical concerns;

  • legal or copyright issues arise during editorial evaluation.

Withdrawn manuscripts will not proceed to publication.

4. Reporting Concerns

Concerns regarding published works may be raised by:

  • authors

  • reviewers

  • readers

  • academic institutions

  • third-party organizations

Reports should include sufficient information to allow the editorial office to assess the issue, including references to the publication and a description of the concern.

5. Investigation Process

When credible concerns are raised regarding a publication, Inkbound may undertake an investigation that may involve:

  • communication with the authors;

  • consultation with editors or reviewers;

  • examination of supporting documentation;

  • consultation with the authors’ affiliated institutions where appropriate.

The objective of the investigation is to determine the nature and severity of the issue and identify the appropriate corrective action.

6. Author Cooperation

Authors are expected to cooperate fully with any investigation regarding potential errors or ethical concerns related to their publication.

Failure to cooperate may result in editorial actions including retraction or other corrective measures.

7. Transparency and Record Integrity

Any corrections, retractions, or expressions of concern issued by Inkbound will:

  • be clearly labeled and publicly accessible;

  • be permanently linked to the original publication;

  • provide an explanation of the reason for the update where appropriate.

Inkbound aims to ensure that readers are able to clearly understand any changes made to the scholarly record.

8. Publisher Discretion

The final decision regarding corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions rests with the publisher and editorial office.

Decisions will be made based on available evidence and in accordance with recognized ethical publishing standards.

9. Policy Updates

Inkbound reserves the right to update or revise this policy from time to time.

Updated versions will be published on the Website with a revised “Last Updated” date. Continued use of Inkbound publications following such updates constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
